The last couple of years have been hard for my family. The cost of living keeps rising, heating bills are so high it is not even funny, our car is constantly broke and our family of 6 has needs that grow every day. However we are blessed because my DH has a really nice job but sometimes we still need help. Unfortunately we are what I call the working poor. We make too much to qualify for various low income programs because these places usually use your income before taxes even though you do not bring that income home. After deductions and taxes we are low income and need help. It was not easy to find help and sometimes it hard to ask so I decided to post any useful information I may come across.
